Shevlin Smith Client Successfully Gets The Medical License Of Negligent Psychiatrist Suspended

Shevlin Smith represented a young woman in a medical malpractice claim against her psychiatrist. The psychiatrist abused the therapeutic relationship by luring his patient into a sexual relationship with him before abrupting ending the relationship. At trial, the psychiatrist admitted that he was negligent in his behavior, but denied that his actions caused his patient any significant harm. A jury found otherwise. The jury awarded the plaintiff damages for the injuries she sustained. Following the lawsuit, the patient appeared before the Virginia State Board of Medicine seeking the suspension of the psychiatrist's license.
