DC Carjacker Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

A local man convicted of carjacking and causing a head-on car accident in DC  that injured two people will serve eight years in prison, says the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In a news release, authorities said that Dale Johnson, a 23-year-old Washington, DC resident, entered a guilty plea in September of this year after being arrested on carjacking charges on May 14.

According to the plea agreement statement, Johnson testified that he and another individual took control of a Toyota Camry at gunpoint last spring. When the car was tracked down by police the following day, Johnson tried to avoid arrest by speeding into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle.

The police who had pursued Johnson rescued him from the burning Camry just before the stolen car exploded. The driver and underage passenger of the other car were seriously injured as a result of the crash.
