Father and Son Seriously Hurt in Arlington Pedestrian Accident

A 31 year old man and his young son were hurt crossing Lee Highway in Arlington, Virginia last week.  This pedestrian vehicle accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday May 20, 2010 in the 4800 block of Lee Parkway.

According to the Arlington County Police Department, the father and his child were crossing the road when the father was hit by the side view mirror of a motor vehicle.  The impact caused the father to fall to the ground and the father’s fall caused the toddler to fall to the ground.  The father and his young son sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Both the father and son were taken to the hospital.  The father was reported to be in stable condition and the child was reported to be in critical condition the day after the accident.

The driver of the vehicle did remain at the accident scene and is reported to be cooperating with police.  The police are still investigating the cause of the accident.  The names of the driver and the injured father and son have not yet been released.
