Woman Killed in Single-Car Accident May Have Suffered Aneurysm

Posted on Jan 10, 2012

A woman who was supposedly killed when her car crashed into a utility pole in Virginia may have been dead when the accident occurred.
29-year-old Casey Noriega was found dead behind the wheel after her car struck a pole at Beulah Street and Windsor Avenue in Kingstowne. Noriega’s friends, who believe that the former gym teacher’s death may have been medically related, alerted Fairfax County Police to the possibility that Noriega might have suffered an aneurysm, heart attack or pulmonary embolism just before the crash.
Noriega’s crash took place the day she left her job at Gymboree Music and Arts, where she had been an instructor for the past six years. She died Saturday afternoon less than two miles from home, just one week shy of her 30th birthday.
The state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine whether Noriega was the victim of a fatal attack and whether the condition could have caused the accident. All fatal accidents are investigated by the medical examiner to confirm cause of death, whether by pre-existing injury or trauma from the accident.
The Fairfax County Police Department is still investigating the case.
The attorneys at Shevlin Smith send their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Casey Noriega.
