Super Lawyers is a peer-review award, which means it’s given based on feedback collected from other attorneys as well as a thorough and patented research process. This speaks to Attorney Shevlin’s outstanding reputation with not only his clients, but also with his peers.
Selection to Super Lawyers
Attorneys are nominated by their peers, a managing partner at their firm, third party feedback, or by the Super Lawyers research team after careful consideration. Eligible attorneys may not nominate themselves and are prohibited from campaigning for nominations. All nominated attorneys are thoroughly researched and evaluated by an independent research team based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, including significant verdicts or settlements, professional activity, community service, and even other awards and honors. This research awards each attorney a score
Those with the highest point totals are then evaluated by the Blue Ribbon Panel, who then evaluate the other candidates within their primary practice area and geographic location. This makes the analysis and review of each attorney more thorough on a local level.
A representative number of attorneys from small, medium, and large law firms are selected, and no more than five percent of all attorneys in each practice area and geographic region are selected to the annual list.
This is not the first time Attorney Shevlin has received this honor, receiving it for the Virginia area for Medical Malpractice and General Personal Injury each year since 2008, and in the Washington D.C. area each year since 2009.
