How The Right Attorney Can Make A Difference In Your Fairfax Medical Malpractice Case

On Behalf of | Nov 30, 2015 | Medical Malpractice

When someone you love has suffered malpractice at the hands of medical
professional, it may seem like you can’t trust anyone. If someone
who has trained for years can make a mistake that can cause serious suffering,
how can you tell which attorney will give you honest and competent representation?

The best advice? Always ask for references and results. Our attorneys have
won both justice and substantial
Fairfax medical malpractice settlements for victims of medical negligence, including:

  • Misdiagnosis. Our 55-year-old client came to us after his physician failed to diagnose
heart disease. He reported his chest pain to his doctor, who diagnosed
him with gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. Our client continued
to suffer chest pain and other heart symptoms, and was given a stress
test, which he failed. Still, his physician told him it was just GERD.
Our client then suffered a massive heart attack, leaving him severely
disabled and shortening his life expectancy. We were able to recover $1,475,000
    for his unnecessary suffering.

  • Delayed diagnosis. Our 40-year-old client underwent a mammogram to screen for breast cancer.
The radiologist found an abnormality and told the primary care physician
that the woman should return for another screening to make sure the abnormality
was not cancerous. However, the physician failed to follow this recommendation
and did not tell our client about her irregular test results. When she
returned a year later for another screening, she was diagnosed with breast
cancer. We were able to prove that the delay in the treatment of her breast
cancer allowed the disease to spread, reducing her life expectancy. The
    jury awarded our client $2,400,000.

  • Wrongful death. A case was filed on behalf of a 40-year-old woman who had died from a
medication-related blood clot. While in treatment for endometriosis, the
woman was given a drug that caused a deep vein thrombosis in her pelvis.
Two different physicians noticed that she was suffering complications,
but they did not communicate with each other–allowing the blood clot
to grow. Eventually the clot broke off and traveled to her lungs, causing
our client’s death. A jury in Washington, DC, found the hospital
liable for our client’s pulmonary embolism, and awarded the estate
    of our client $4,000,000.
